Anonymous asked: I have tsl and dsl 100's. Done the trannies, bright caps, and a clean/crunch mod on the dsl, so it's a three channel. I much prefer the sound of the dsl by a wide margin. If I change the value of the 100pf cap to 470pf (c18?) will it sound like a dsl? My issue is with the more "compressed" sound of the tsl. The dsl has a more raw, classic crunch and feel to it. Although the tsl sounds night and day better than stock, will it ever be a dsl, sound wise? Thanks! Pete, Oregon

If you want more DSL in your TSL, here’s what I’d do:
1. Change C18 to 470pf
2. Clip out TR2 (this is an active treble boost for the drive channels)
3. Change C16 for a 4.7nF
4. Change R13 to 220k

Those are all the component differences I’m aware of in the preamp. I’m not sure what the “bright caps” modification is, but see if that’s the same set of values in both TSL and DSL.
